Once a peaceful city of Gadchiroli in the Maharashtra State of India is now facing a worst threat of Naxals/Maoists (NM) infestation. The signal is clear that Maharashtra is now going to become the part of Red Corridor very soon.

Since long the threat of NM has taken all of the India into a strong grip. The hiding of reality and defying the questions of the media in this context made this menace reach the urban centers of the world’s most emerging super power of the future. In comparison to Taliban of Pakistan that were focused by the world as they were believed to be reaching the Capital of Pakistan and capturing Nuclear Assets, the intensity of NM seems to be more lethal and devastating. India blames China for providing them weaponry and as usual it also raises finger on Pakistan’s ISI but it is a reality that NM are building their fire power not only through alleged foreign help but most alarmingly creating their own Improvised Explosives Devices (IED) and other weapons indigenously. Following is the report suggesting that NMs are manufacturing their own weapons now!.
>
Giridh, JharkhandThe Naxals, who surprised everyone by using rocket launchers for the first time during the Lok Sabha polls, have already set up about four units to manufacture weapons and ammunition, say central security agencies. The Naxals, who usually target security forces with manual improvised explosive devices, are now slowly developing remote-controlled IEDs which can be activated from a distance with just the push of a button. The improvement in fire-power is being supported by intensive training on the lines of regular forces, say sources. Central security agencies and local police sources say the Maoists have started two factories each in the dense forests and hills of both Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. Sources say that though another such factory existed earlier in Bihar, the Naxals have dismantled it. Early last year, a combing team of the CRPF and the local police had come across one such unit used for making small bombs and mortar shells in Jharkhand. The Naxals who are trying to improve their firepower have also come out with the deadly 'Claymore Mines', or what are often called 'directional IEDs'. Unlike in the past, when IEDs use to be buried beneath the road in a small can, the Claymore Mines, which come with a thick aluminium plate, can be fitted to a tree. The IED, when exploded, will deflect the shrapnels in a direction opposite to the plate, thus focusing them to a particular area as against conventional IEDs where the impact is in a circular area around the device. Certain blasts in Chhattisgarh have pointed to the possibility of remote-controlled IEDs being used but they are yet to become a standard strategy for the Naxals, say sources. "Naxals are constantly trying to improvise and have also set up factories for this. During searches by security personnel, they have come across few chips which suggest that they are trying to develop remote-controlled IEDs. If they succeed, it would prove deadly," according to a source. "The Naxalites also make their own guns besides those snatched from policemen and procured from outside. Their locally-made guns called 'pahar' can be used to severely injure a person if not kill him. The pellets break into pieces on impact and hence are deadly," the source says. The left-wing extremists are known for using gelatin sticks in their explosives. They are sourced from mining areas, say sources. A source says that the Maoists also undergo military training similar to that of securitymen, which "suggests a possibility of ex-army or ex-policemen" helping in preparing training modules, whether due to force or their own wish. One of the Naxal training CDs seized by security forces in Andhra Pradesh gives an insight into the training modules with the militants practising crawling backwards. Security forces have also come across abandoned centres of Naxals having rope climbing, ladder, crawling tunnels and other obstacles used for hard training. The Naxals have also hit upon an innovative way to store their ammunition by hiding it in branded plastic water tanks placed in the ground and covered with mud and stones. Sources said the logic behind it was that there are less chances of formation of moisture, which might damage the ammunition. The above report suggests that Indian security forces would not find it easy to stop NMs in near future because they have developed themselves into a parallel lethal army.
Coming back to the main topic, the spreading of Mao Zedung’s ideology throughout India is creating a greater menace for the world forces that are in support for free democratic system and the Capitalism. The world is looking towards India as a nation progressing with enormous pace, but the poverty level in majority of India displays a negative picture. NMs have the sympathies of the most thrown away and ignored people who are now becoming part of their movement. The NMs infestation when seen reaching the Urban centers of India raises the question that why these forces are not obstructed till now! There is a great understanding that Indian security forces and Army is not ready to encounter NM as they have reasonable fire power and ammunition to counter any attack initiated against them. It looks that within months most of the big cities would fall into NM’s lap and the government could not move its shoulder then. Another main reason for India’s staying back from decisive action against NM is the staging of Common Wealth Games on 3rd October 2010 in Delhi. But to shock many NM have already reached the outskirts of Delhi. The witness’s note of Delhi’s train hijacked by NM forces as seen in the video linked below shows that the menace of NM is far more horrible than it is normally discussed.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8nnC7vgGoY It would be a great risk for the participating players of different countries because, India cannot guarantee the safety of those who would come there to play with free of mind and without any fear. India’s reluctance to initiate any action against the NM forces before the Common Wealth games also indicates that this opportunity would be capitalized by them and they would infest more urban areas beyond the Red Corridor. The Government of India is now saying that they will start an operation against NM forces but they are not sure how intensified that operation would be because the moment this operation would be started the international media would jump quickly to highlight the developments. This can negatively affect the efforts of India to project itself as a safer nation. It would also strengthen the fear that Delhi’s Common Wealth Games would be endangered due to the planned operation against the NM insurgents by not involving the regular Army. Following link proves that strong voice is raised inside India to keep the action against the insurgents on low profile as any intensity in the encounter would lead to collateral damage to the face of the progressing and safe India.

The delay in taking action against NM forces is however creating a possibility that these insurgents would try to capture most of the territory in the coming days. In an interview published in the weekly magazine, the Maoists Leader Mupalla Laxman Rao, better known as Ganapathi, said that anyoffensivemight secure some early gains but insisted that the rebels would eventually triumph. Following link has the interview of the Rebel Leader who is quite confident to give Indian forces a tough encounter.

In conclusion, the growing possibility of NM taking whole of India like a storm is nothing out of the reality. The present help by International media to India by not highlighting the real threat is seen as a criminal act because if the people of the world are not shown the clear picture, it may create a bigger catastrophe for many foreigners who are intended to visit India for either business or tourism. The recent threat by NM that foreigners would be kidnapped should also be taken seriously. Following link has extremely important information regarding Kidnapping motives by insurgents inside India. The situation is alarming and extremely dangerous.

Recently, American Government has issued clear warnings to its citizens to revisit their plans to tour India as there is a growing threat to the lives of Foreigners working, touring and engaged in business deals inside India. The warning of American Government is taken very seriously. Following is the link contains the exact text of Travel Alert issued by US Government to its Citizens intended to travel to India.

Further, the recent cases of Uranium theft, leakages and explosions in the Nuclear Installations inside India also raises serious concern about the possibility of environmental catastrophe and the bad intentions of the terrorists who have obtained sufficient quantity of Uranium to make any kind of nuclear explosive device.

It is now the responsibility of Global community to understand the intensity of problems attached to India which could lead to a devastating situation. From NM’s insurgency to irresponsible attitude towards safety of Nuclear Installations may lead to immense danger to the lives of people living in India and for those who have any intention to visit to India in the near future. India should be pressurized by UN and United States of America in particular because the growing menace of Naxals/Maoists insurgency is leading to complete influence of Communists in India. The west had been united to diffuse the Red storm of USSR more than a decade back, but can they handle much bigger threat of people idealizing Mao Zedung and capturing India completely to make it another large Communist country like Russia and China.
The time has come when this threat is to be seen with eyes wide open! The threat of a destabilizing India and drowning completely into insurgencies would create security threat for the neighboring countries and the impact would be enormous and devastating to this region. If Indian Government would not realize it’s responsibility to the International Community, then this wild fire of uncontrolled insurgencies would make this region a living hell.
